Bridge Elementary School

Bridge School is a 1930’s school “Dever” building with remedial structural steel framing members above roof level. These steel beams now help support the originally under-designed structure. The building required a roof removal and replacement. Under normal circumstances, this scope would not pose a challenge, however for the above deck framing, many resulting roof penetrations and support points necessitated that a clever system of flashing be devised and installed.
Many of the masonry parapets and lower walls had suffered from the lack of proper flashing in past re-roof projects. The elaborate details for this job became the prototype solution for other “Dever” type schools throughout the Chicago Public School system
